OCTAFest 2027 Background

OCTAFest is an adjudicated community theatre short-play festival sponsored by the Oregon Community Theatre Alliance (OCTA).  OCTAFest 2027 will be held March 12-14, 2027 at the Sprague Community Theatre in Bandon, OR.The goals of OCTAFest are to:Provide learning experiences in artistic, technical, and management areas through performances, adjudication, workshops, and festival participation; thereby affirming, supporting, and nurturing community theatre companies.Stimulate and inspire community theatre companies to strive toward excellence in theatrical production and to recognize them for their achievement through an appropriate adjudication process.Develop enlightened and discerning audiences for community theatre.OCTA is a sanctioned State Affiliate of the American Association of Community Theatre (AACT) part of Region IX (Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Alaska). Each production is evaluated by a panel of specially trained theater adjudicators. The submission(s) determined to be the outstanding production(s) will be automatically invited to compete in the Region IX festival, April 7-10, 2027 in Prosser, Washington. Each of the ten AACT Regions sends their overall outstanding production to the AACT National Festival (AACTFest), to be held June 15-19, 2027, in Rochester, MN.
